“We will go in, we will play, we want to win”, those were the remarks uttered by our defensive lynchpin Kenny, when asked about the upcoming Super League opener, the big one, against our neighbours, Selangor.
The City Boys face Selangor at home in this season’s Super League opener, this Friday, and according to the 28-year-old, the team is just raring to go but did not put any particular importance on playing against Selangor.
He explained “As a team, we have made detailed preparations for this match just like any other match. There is no match more important than the other. All matches are equally important to us. We have prepared well and we are ready to compete”.
The Ipoh born 6-footer was a steadying factor in the City Boys’ run to Malaysia Cup success last season since his move from Perak, also commented on the 22 matches unbeaten record the City Boys had at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium throughout last season which began in 2019, in which the fans proudly proclaim as “The Fortress”.
“If we get to hang on to the record, that’s great. It’s a psychological advantage and it is something that we and the fans can be proud of. But in the field of play, it doesn’t bother us. We don’t want to pressure ourselves in remembering such milestones. It’s important in its way, but it is what matters more is for the team to gel and win”.

The Super League Match Day fixture between Kuala Lumpur City and Selangor is on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 9 pm (2100hrs), in Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras.
