O Capitao : I’m Here To Help Make The Club Bigger and Bigger

Paulo Josue, Kuala Lumpur City’s skipper, was outstanding in the 2-0 win over Melaka United on Saturday, scoring both goals for the Red & White to register our first win of the season.

The Brazilian’s strikes that night, opened his accounts for the league this season and propelled him to be on the verge of being the City Boys’ Super League All Time Top Scorer, after matching former teammate Guilherme De Paula’s haul for us with 21 goals.

When told of the news and the 33 year old who has been with us for 5 years since his mid-season transfer in 2017, was elated.

Speaking To The Voice of The City Boys, he said, “This is the award after many years of serving KL and of course, many players have been part of it but at the end of the day, it is a big honour to be part of this selective shelf at Kuala Lumpur. I’m just here to help the club and make KL bigger and bigger”.

An exemplary and loyal professional who has done nothing but consistently deliver the best for us, Paulo Josue believes that he still has a good few more years left in his tank before he decides the next phase of his journey.

“For now, I plan to play and enjoy as much as I can. In my mind KL was and is the club that gave to me the best highlights in my football career. It would be a great honour to retire here and if God allows me to be continue being a part of the club for many more years, nobody will work more than me to keep this winner mindset at KL. My family is well adapted to this city, this country, this club, they will understand and support any decision (I make)”.

With age catching up on him, Paulo Josue shared his tips on taking care of himself to stay at the top of his game.

“I try to be (as) professional as I can. I have no problems with body fat because I control my diet and my well-being. I listen to the coach on how to maintain my fitness.”

The captain was monumental in the 2021 campaign leading up to the Malaysia Cup triumph last year, and the City Boys will be hoping for more of the same in our quest this year to better last season’s achievement.
