eCity Boys head coach Nur Amirul ‘Amtuah’ Afandi, was overjoyed with the huge victories clinched by Faid “Draco” Said and Iskandar “Ismir” Mirza, over Penang and S Pahang during their debut for the Red & White in the season opening fixtures of FIFA eMFL 2022 league on Tuesday night.
However, the 3-time South East Asian champion and the first-ever Malaysian to participate in an international eSports tournament, representing German football clubSchalke 04 in the Virtuelle Bundesliga Grand Final (Virtual German League Final), who is with Team Haq, Kuala Lumpur City’s partner for our foray into this tournament, cautioned both his charges that the long journey just began and they will need to continuously improve to keep up the results.
Commenting via WhatsApp on the successes of Match Day 1 where Draco won 3-1 and 5-0 in both his matches, while Ismir registered 5-1 and 5-2 wins, he said,
“It’s a great start for the team, it’s also a boost for the players to get their confidence up. But we’ll still need to maintain this momentum, so right now i’m just making sure that our players are still training hard as if it was still 0-0.”
Amtuah, also an avid City Boys fan, was more than satisfied on the individual performance of the 24 year old’s.
“I’m very happy with how our players performed. They went into both matches looking to win and they accomplished that. As their coach, it’s a good outcome but they will still need to maintain and also improve as they progress more into the league.”
On their next two opponents for Match Day 2 on Wednesday, Amtuah was unfazed by the challenge that lay ahead instead he was confident we could bank on past experiences to carry us through.
“Yes, we have played against them on several occasions so our plan is going into this with the experience we had when we faced them. Also analyzing their gameplay so that we can create tactics and strategies to get the outcome we want.”
