Terengganu Vs Kuala Lumpur City Postponed

Malaysia Football League (MFL) on Friday evening announced changes to the Super League calendar involving all six fixtures on Match Day 10, which was scheduled to take place over May 20 & 21, 2022, among them them the City Boys’ away clash at Terengganu.

 

The visit to the Turtles was set to take place in Kuala Terengganu on Saturday, May 21, 2022 will no longer be played on this date, and is to be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, a little less than a week to KL City’s debut in the group stages of AFC Cup 2022, where we meet Indonesia’s PSM Makassar and Tampines Rovers of Singapore.

 

The postponement is to accommodate both the National & National Under-23 teams with additional time to prepare for their upcoming assignments this year.

 

The National team will have the benefit to begin their centralised training earlier between May 19-29, 2022, apart from the FIFA Days time frame from May 30 to June 14, 2022 which includes the Third Round of the 2023 Asia Cup Qualifying Games in Kuala Lumpur from June 8, 2022, where the Harimau Malaya will host Turkmenistan (8/6/22), Bahrain (11/6/22) and Bangladesh (14/6/22) in Group E of the competition.

 

Meanwhile the Under-23’s will be involved in two assignments beginning with the 2021 South East Asia (SEA) Games football competition from May 12-23, 2022 in Vietnam, closely followed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Asian Cup from June 1-19 in Uzbekistan. The centralised training for the former, shall begin from April 30-May 11, 2022, while for the latter it will take place from May 24-31, 2022. For the 2021 SEA Games, the Harimau Muda are
in Group B with Thailand (7/5/22), Laos (11/5/22), Singapore (14/5/22) and Cambodia (16/5/22) for company in the preliminary group stages, whereas during the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup, they have been drawn in Group C to face South Korea (2/6/22), Thailand again (5/6/22) and Vietnam (8/6/22).

 

MFL also informed that in the event the National Under-23’s progress to the knock-out stages of competition in Uzbekistan, namely the final rounds, this Terengganu-KL City encounter may be rearranged once again to a later date.
