Muhammad : “Everyone Is Fighting For A Place In The Team”

By and large it has been a quiet week for the City Boys on the storied front after the disappointing loss to Negeri Sembilan, where we squandered too many chances and eventually were punished for our wastefulness in front of goal.

However, according to Muhammad, our new acquisition arriving from Terengganu during the close season, the team has been hard at work the past week or so since returning from Paroi.

Speaking to The Voice of The City Boys in a conversation via the WhatsApp mobile application, ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, Amad as he is fondly known said, “Everyone is fighting for a place in the team. We’re all giving our best in practice and during every match.”

The 26 year old defender who regularly featured for the Turtles last year, making 14 appearances, of which 10 were starts, has yet to really breakthrough in the city side, only donning the Red & White, in the 3-2 defeat at Kedah DA, where he began the match and was replaced in the 72nd minute, then twice as an injury time substitute in the home wins vs Melaka Utd and Sabah.

“I’m a professional, and and I will always be committed for a place in the starting eleven, and it is up to the head coach (Bojan) to field me or not. It does affect me a bit (though), all players have a desire to play every match, (want) to prove (their ability) to the coach”, he revealed.

Continuing further, Amad who also came through the Harimau Muda system, disclosed of his future ambitions but knows that it starts here in his new home first.

“My target is to represent Malaysia, I need to play well in the league matches. I have mentioned this before, (firstly) everyone here must help each other to ensure KL becomes the best team.”

Amad also commented on coming to terms as a newbie to the Malaysia Cup champions.

“I’m always open any situation more so that I’m still adapting to the team. I’ll give the best for the team on and off the pitch. I talk (frequently) to my (team)mates, and they’ve been helpful in making a positive welcome for me here.”
