Wesak, the Day of the Full Moon in the month of May, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world. On this Day, in the year 623 B.C., two and a half millennia ago, Gautama Buddha was born. It was also on this Day, he attained enlightenment, and in his 80th year, he passed away on this day.
Wesak Day is the time to reflect on the fundamentals of tolerance, compassion and service to humanity that are embodied in Buddha’s life and teachings.
