Showdown in Kuching : Bojan Expects A Tough Time, Zhafri Wants 100%

The City Boys travel to Kuching for Tuesday’s date with Sarawak Utd, still looking for their first away points of the season, against an opponent who remain searching for their first win at home.

After 8 rounds of league fixtures each, only 3 points separate fifth placed Kuala Lumpur City and tenth placed Sarawak Utd., while both are tied in the goals conceded department with 15 apiece. Scoring has been the difference between the two teams, the Golden Hornbills, struggling to find the back of net often enough in 2022, successful for only 7 times so far, an amount the city slickers have doubled despite our known wastefulness.

In the pre-match media routine prior to kick-off, Bojan and Zhafri were both asked for their thoughts of the task that lay ahead.

Here’s what our head coach said,

“Sarawak is one experienced, hard working team. We know that in every match they’re 50/50. They give tough time to everybody so we expect that this (match) will be a tough time (for us as well). Here especially because they’re playing at home.”.

Bojan was also hopeful that the gap of a week from our 3-2 win at home against Penang, did our team a world of good, the boys are are rested and would not repeat the drama at the end of the match to the Panthers where we allowed them in with a chance, from winning 3-0, to getting by, just.

Meanwhile Zhafri, who began the day finding out that he was selected by Kim Pang Gon, the national team’s head coach, to be amongst the 11 players in the standby list, apart from the 29 chosen for the centralised training in preparation for the Group E Asian Cup qualifiers, felt the following,

“We must improve with each game, then the results will be positive. 3 points that’s what we want.”

Adding further,

“We’ve got to try to do our best for every match, not just home, not just away. The most important thing, this is the most important, is for each player to give 100% for themselves and the team.”

The Super League Match Day 9 fixture between Sarawak Utd. and Kuala Lumpur City is on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 8.15 pm (2015hrs), at the Sarawak State Stadium, Petra Jaya, Kuching.
