WE WON’T TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED : STANLEY

Following Kuala Lumpur City’s success in qualifying for the AFC Cup 2022 ASEAN Zonal Final after the semi-final win over Vietnam’s Viettel on Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer, Stanley Bernard, said the City Boys will not take anything for granted going into the match, a repeat of their group stage encounter against PSM Makassar of Indonesia.

The City Boys won 6-5 on sudden-death penalties after the semi-final ended scoreless despite extra-time at the Thong Nat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam.

“We will face this game (the final) like how we did in the other games to ensure the best can be produced by all players”, he was reported to have told Sinar Harian on Thursday.

“I believe we can go further if we do our homework, more so against an Indonesian rival like (PSM) Makassar. I hope all our players will be ready for this”, he added.

While expressing his confidence with the team, Stanley also hoped for the fans to turn out in numbers during the final on August 24, 2022 at the KL Football Stadium

“We hope for our fans, Malaysian football fans, come to support us and pray for us during this final, may this journey continues.”

The City Boys are two time ASEAN level champions in 1987 and 1989, when it was known as the ASEAN Champions’ Cup, back then a part of the AFC Asian Club Championship.
