The man with the masterplan, headcoach Bojan, who engineered Kuala Lumpur City’s success in lifting the Malaysia Cup last year and their appearance in the AFC Cup 2022 ASEAN Zonal Final next week against PSM Makassar, has urged a call of action to the City Boys fans tonight (Thursday, August 18, 2022) when they play host to high riding Negeri Sembilan at home : to come out in droves to the stadium and be at the top of their voices through the match.
The role of the ’12th man’ could not be more important, and with The Deers in scintillating form since their promotion to the Super League this season, only losing twice and that to, to sides above them, Johor DT and Sabah, currently occupying third position in the standings with a 9 point gap over fourth place Terengganu, the Croatian hopes for Red & White fans to create an intimidating atmosphere and help send the southerners packing to the first defeat on the road.
“It will be very tough, just like when we meet them in the pre-season game (Federal Territory Minister’s Cup) and during the away match in Paroi at the end of April. Both teams are hardworking. No group (team) has individual players that are very skillful. It is all about hard work, and both teams have this kind of tactics, which is why it will be very tough. Negeri Sembilan is in a good run, with four wins (in their last 5 matches), while we are in a good mood after the win against Viettel FC”, he said to The Voice of The City Boys.
Continuing, the Croatian stresses on the factors in the city slickers favour.
“Nevertheless, home advantage will always play a significant role in any match, especially in football. “It will be a challenging game, but at the end of the day, we are playing at home and will use this to our advantage. We hope many of our fans will be at the stadium.”
With the exception of Nabil whose season has practically ended with his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injury during training, Fakrul who is on the mend from a hamstring issue suffered against Kedah DA and Kenny who got a knock during the Viettel game but is banned anyway until further notice (for reasons best left unwritten here), Bojan’s side has an almost clean bill of health, and he is optimistic in fielding his best at the moment.
“We had a few injuries. Except Kenny, everyone else is returning. Partiban has started training with us, and whoever got injured in Vietnam has already recovered, so maybe we will have our best eleven on the field.”
The Super League Match Day 17 fixture between Kuala Lumpur City and Negeri Sembilan is on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 8.15 pm (2015hrs), at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras.
