JORDAN : “WE NEED THE 3 POINTS”

Ghanaian Jordan, who joined the Kuala Lumpur City on a season ending loan during the first transfer window of this year at the end of June, has quickly established himself as a regular in the City Boys line-up, forming a partnership upfront with Romel while emerging as a strong personality within the changing room.

Coming in from Terengganu 2, Jordan was the Premier League Golden Boot winner with 16 goals in 15 matches from his second season in Malaysian football last year, and added 9 more goals while appearing for his parent club Terengganu in their Super League and their Malaysia Cup campaign in 2021. Before sealing the move to the nation’s capital, the 26-year old striker already bagged 7 goals in 9 matches this year for the east coast side.

While goals have been a little tough to come by for him in the colours of the Red & White since making his debut during the 0-1 away loss to Selangor in the Second Round of the FA Cup in early July, a brace in the 2-1 comeback win at home against Kedah DA in his fourth appearance is all that he has to show for to date, Jordan remains unperturbed, as he patiently works on the training ground to build an understanding with the attacking approach of Bojan’s tactics and his teammates on the pitch. Only time would tell when his explosive nature would kick-in for the benefit of the City Boys and begin tearing opposition defences apart. The old adage ‘class is permanent, form is temporary’ comes quickly to mind to describe him, he indeed is, a proven goalscorer wherever he has been.

Speaking to The Voice of The City Boys on Tuesday ahead of the big game against Negeri Sembilan tomorrow (Thursday, August 18, 2022), for a man labelled as outspoken in character, he did not have much to say when asked of his thoughts on the next challenge for the city slickers.

“I put my trust in God in everything as long as my team and I have each other’s back in doing our best regardless of which group (opponent),” he quipped, firmly believing that things are on the right track personally for him and the team.

He also commented on the injury situation which flared up again when a couple of his teammates, namely Kenny and Ryan who forced to leave the pitch due to knocks and fitness issues in the absorbing and bruising encounter last week in the AFC Cup 2022 ASEAN Zone Semi-final win away to Viettel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

“Healing might take time, but our spirit will always prepare us for the best in this upcoming match, and we will do our best to get the 3 points. We need it.”
