eCity Boys Fall To Eighth After Poor Results In League Restart

The FIFA eMFL 2022 league swung back into action following a break of more than a month with the final three matchdays of competition held in the final week of May.

However, there was not much cheer for the eCity Boys who had yet to recover from the long slumber, only managing a win, two draws and three defeats at the close of proceedings in midweek, dropping a further two positions to eighth, tied with Selangor and Police on 48 points each, only separated by goal difference heading into the final day of play on Saturday with matches remaining against Negeri Sembilan and Kedah.

On Tuesday, Draco who picked up 8 wins and a draw in his 12 duels before the international breather for the 31st South East Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam, was held 1-1 by Terengganu’s Si Jali in the opener, a result that left Ismir with the pressure to deliver the points. Unfortunately, the 24 year old’s poor form since before the break, continued to haunt him, falling to his fifth loss in the past six matches, with yet another 3-2 result, this time at the hands of Favlain.

As he has consistently done throughout the season, when the chips are down, Draco is there to pick up the pieces for the Red And White, and he did it in style in the next encounter against Melaka Utd. thrashing Halowake 4-1, to set our wired men for a famous whitewash of the southerners in a fixture that was broadcast live on Facebook. It was not to be though as Raja Bola restored his team’s pride, gaining a solitary goal victory over Ismir.

In the only match on Wednesday, the superiority Draco had the previous night deserted him, and he went tumbling to his first loss since his defeat to Selangor’s Maxinevis on Match Day 4, being outclassed 5-3 in a high scoring battle with Neqi of Sabah. The last time both our combatants were dethroned in the same fixture was on that forgettable day against our Klang Valley neighbours, and all eyes were on Ismir to halt his 3 match losing streak, and deliver he did, not a win but at least a respectable 1-1 draw with Rasydan.

Just a day to go in the league, and we find ourselves slipping further from the leading pack than we were at the start of the week. May our eCity Boys exponents Faid “Draco” Said and Iskandar “Ismir” Mirza, come back to finish the league strongly in their debut season for Kuala Lumpur City’s electronic division.
